Nkoilale Craft Centre helps women to flourish

The Women Craft Centre has helped 30 women to flourish. Now, they are able to produce quality beads, necklaces, gifts and classic ornaments for tourists visiting the Maasai Mara. By Jackline Nasipae.

Maasai women, particularly those living around the Maasai Mara game reserve are well known in production of world class Maasai beads, gifts and ornamentals which are sold across the world.

To boast this trade, in 2015, NCDF established a women craft centre which has helped more that 30 women to be gainfully employed in bead production. This has greatly helped them to take care of their families and end for themselves.

"I must say, this centre has helped us alot. For me, I have managed to take my three kids in nice schools with easy. We have ready markets for our beads. The tourists who are frequent here are our main customers. When we had movement restrictions in 2020 due to Covid 19, we diversified to honey production, soap making and sewing of clothes," - Jane Naanyu Women Craft Membe
